Couples that Train Together

This photo was taken during our last trip to Kauai for Christmas 2015 with the family. My husband and I had just lugged and set up all of our beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, snacks, and workout gear to the beach for the day. I was already feeling a little exhausted before our beach bootcamp workout even began. The next thing I know, I turned around to enjoy our ocean view and this is what I saw. It was the most gorgeous rainbow.

For those of you that know me, you know that I truly enjoy working out. I especially love to work out with my husband when I can. For the last five years, we typically work out together once or twice a week with our trainer Mike Scaccia at The Studio. Mike isn’t your average trainer. He is knowledgeable in all aspects of health, whether it is regarding diet, exercise, supplements, or vitamins. You name it, if it’s about health, he can help educate you.

And as Mike always says, “A couple that trains together stays together!”

We just found out that you might even see him on an upcoming episode of The Real Housewives of Dallas. He trains two of the women on the show, so be on the lookout for him!  He has also trained professional athletes, including Dallas Cowboy Emmitt Smith, Dallas Maverick Michael Finley, and Olympic Wrestler and UFC champion Mo Lawal.

I have been an athlete my entire life and Mike has helped me get into the best shape of my life through his stability, core training, overall strength, weight training, and endurance exercises. We do a variety of workouts from kettle bells, to ladder/running drills, to stretching and core exercises, and even boxing and kickboxing. Mike knows that switching up your exercise routine and surprising your body every few weeks can really make a huge difference. He now is not only my trainer, but also a dear friend that I would highly recommend to anyone.

When we are traveling, Mike will send us beach bootcamp style HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workouts for us to do on our own. Just ask my friends that have been subjected to these while on vacation with us (my 40th birthday party in Cabo at Palmilla, Costa Rica, Kauai, St. Thomas, Turks and Caicos, WaterColor, and even while skiing in Beaver Creek). Remember it’s okay to have a good time (and for me that’s having vodka or pinot noir and dessert too) but you should not forego all your diet and exercise routines while vacationing. If anything, it’s even more important to keep up with your workouts while on vacation since you will most likely be indulging more on food and drinks than you normally would at home.

Visit Mike’s Web site  to learn more about Michael Scaccia & receive 3 free sessions when you mention Street Style Squad.
