Summer’s LBD
SSS it’s now officially summer and wedding season, so what does that mean for us? We all need a fabulous go to Little Black Dress we can grab from our closet and know that we will be looking sophisticated and fabulous each and every time. I am wearing a modern, up-to-date LBD
with a deep v-neckline, twisted waist and asymmetrical high-low hem by Acler. I just love wearing these modern black dresses that have a plunging neckline and uneven hem. Another example of when I wore a stunning LWD was to my launch party for SSS at Canary.
Acler is a hip new label based in Sydney but stocked online and at retailers worldwide. I always get my Acler pieces from veux.com. Acler was conceived by co-designers Kathryn Forth and Julia Ritorto. Kathryn Forth was the head designer at Cameo, I’m sure you’ve heard of it, they are known for bridging the gap between runway trends and your budget. Kathryn turned Cameo into an international hit. She has since partnered with Julia Ritorto, the former head designer of Cameo’s sister label, Finders Keepers, to bring us Acler.
Their common goal was to rebel against cookie-cutter digital design and bring the design process back to its fundamentally tactile roots. Each Acler piece is developed over a process of 12 months, (yes 12 months) and is subtly redrafted, and redraped along the way, allowing the design to take on its own form naturally. Kathryn describes it as “feminine draping and androgynous tailoring. The end result is a meticulously constructed piece, which has an organic sculptural shape and an ultimately refined minimalism. And most importantly you will not look like everyone else in the room with their boring, out-of-date LBD design.
I now own two little black Acler dresses and one black Acler top and I find myself choosing them year round. Their Spring/Summer 2016 designs are from beautiful fabrics sourced internationally, like Italian embossing, textured Korean acetate blends, and soft washed silks.
